After the successful launch of Lenovo’s tablets in the world, it has decided to launch it in India with specialized features for the region.
Lenovo, a China based multinational computer company, launched its first series of tablets in the market on Wednesday. At the launching ceremony, Amar Babu (Managing Director of Lenovo India) announced the marketing strategy for their line of tablets. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the strategy depended on the target consumer of the tablet. He added that Lenovo has introduced a new style as the company will be accommodating its consumers and business professionals separately.
The IdeaPad A1 is made for business professionals; it will provide them enhanced security and increased productivity. For consumers, Lenovo has introduced IdeaPad K1. This tablet will satisfy needs of different range of customers in tablet market. IdeaPad K1 is ideal for people looking for best social networking experience and media player. Both tablets will be featuring Android 3.1 platform. “We have listened to our customers and are delivering Android tablets designed to meet their particular needs,” Babu said.
The two tablets will be available at Lenovo’s 700 exclusive retail-stores by the end of current month. In India, IdeaPad A1 will be available for Rs. 15,000 while IdeaPad K1 will be priced between Rs. 30,000-35,000. Babu believes that with their current marketing plan, they will able to reach the masses as tablet is priced low. Babu said, “It should be available at the grassroots level or the interiors of the country”.
IdeaPad A1
It has a 7-inch screen giving display of 1024×600 resolution. The business oriented tablet is powered by ARM Cortex-A8 1GHz processor with 512 MB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It supports 3 mega-pixel rear camera (with LED flash) and 0.3 mega pixel frontal camera. For meeting needs of business professionals it is optimized for the email, GPS, multimedia and web-browsing. It has a battery life of 7 hours when using Wi-Fi.
IdeaPad K1
1.66 lb tablet has a 10.1 inch display of IdeaPad A1 provides 1280×800 resolution. It runs on 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor with 1GB of RAM memory. It has a 5 mega-pixel camera with LED flash on the rear while it has 2 mega-pixel camera on the front. It has 32GB permanent memory with port for microSD card reader (capacity up to 32 GB) and micro-HDMI for playing videos on HDTV. Just like Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, Lenovo has also excluded USB port from the tablet but has included 3.5mm headphone jack.
