The rumor dies down – RIM sticks to an alternative plan

The news about RIM launching a 10-inch version of PlayBook, probably named as PlayBook 2 has finally reached its most likely-to-be-reached destination i.e. gutter.

A website claimed, the last month, that it had exclusively received all the details of the possible newest Research In Motion (RIM) product, the PlayBook 2. Moreover, the website explicitly confirmed that the PlayBook 2 would be adorned with Black and White colored models, SIM slot, 4G/Wi-Fi and a lot more. Ironically, the website suggested RIM to come up with a better version of QNX supporting native e-mail and other features, till the launch of PlayBook 2 scheduled somewhere at the end of 2011.

This particular news with unconfirmed sources caught the online spotlight in real terms. The news was tweeted, shared on different platforms, posted on different blogs, discussed on a number of forums but now the website says that RIM has shifted to another plan. More ironically, the latest news by that website, which is again by some undisclosed sources, is creating more ripples over the blogosphere than before. Now it has been claimed that after the production of all the Hulk sized 10-inch PlayBook 2 tablets has been ceased, RIM is pushing forward the plan to launch LTE 4G PlayBook variant in October 2011. It has been declared that this luscious product would be having the specs as, single-core 1.2 GHz processor, 900+ screen resolution and 4.3 inch touchscreen.

Oh Good Lord! May this news be true as many people have read this and might be saving their money to buy out this product by RIM, Amen.

It is quite easy to figure out the reason behind such news. Once the trend setter, RIM is keeping it very hard to survive. The famous slogans by RIM, “Always On” and “Inspiration starts here were last heard a long, long time ago. BlackBerry handsets are growingly replaced by other smartphones offering better functionalities. Gone are those days when the United States President Barrack Obama was frequently spotted holding a BlackBerry. To make the circumstances even worse, PlayBook has been a huge disaster despite creating an early hype. RIM certainly needs to re-innovate its products besides introducing some newer products.  Yes! It is the need of this hour to leave the traditional stubbornness, before it is the eleventh hour.
