The lawsuit battle between Apple and Samsung gets intense

After losing a lawsuit against Nokia settled on undisclosed huge amounts, Apple feels ‘harassed’ by Samsung, ‘the Copyist’ as referred by Apple in the new 63 pages lawsuit.

In an epic clash of the titans, Apple has taken a stricter stand in an attempt to shelter its intellectual properties. In an ‘impressive’ 63 pages fresh lawsuit extended from the previous 38 pages, Apple has accused 12 more Samsung products of having the look and feel of the iPhone and iPad making the total list to a whooping 27 Samsung products.

“[Samsung's] products…blatantly imitate the appearance of Apple’s products to capitalize on Apple’s success,” Apple says in the complaint, “The copying has been widely observed in the industry and has been mentioned in multiple articles reviewing Samsung products.”

“While the iPhone was an instant success, there was nothing instant about the design process, Over the course of several years, Apple had teams of people working on developing each aspect of the design of the phone itself–the shape of the phone, the materials used, and the size and placement of the mask that frames the screen–as well as the Multi-Touch user interface, to make a product that looked and felt entirely different from prior phones on the market.” The complaint reads, “The end result was a very clean shape for the phone, with an entirely flat glass panel for the front, gently rounded corners and integrated casing, and intuitive touch features. Before Apple’s introduction of the first iPhone product, no other company was offering a phone with these features.”

It all started when Apple sued Samsung of copying its designs around three months ago in April. Ironically, Samsung countersued Apple of doing the same a few days after. However, the court granted Apple’s request to view several unreleased Samsung products.

The fact that Apple contributes four percent to the total Samsung’s economy buying several of its products, adds more drama to the case. The news has been haunting the blogosphere, publications and talk shows recently. Many feel that Apple is in a commanding situation in this lawsuit.
