Can Amazon, Asus and Samsung compete with Apple in the tablet market?
Apple is still giving huge competition to its rival companies especially in terms of its tablet shipments. The company still has its number one niche in its tablet shipment leaving behind Amazon, BN and Asus. According to NPD’s DisplaySearch wing:“Apple is still sitting at the top of the mountain and accounts for 59.1% of its tablet shipped in Q4 in 2011 while Amazon having second place accounting for 16.7% of its tablet shipments.”
By reading at this research analysis, it will not come out as a surprise for many people. The reason is that a leading company like Apple has touched millions and billions of people’s hearts by manufacturing the most attention grabbing devices for them. Due to high demand for its devices, Apple is still shipping its products to number of markets in the world and now has become a leader in shipping its gadgets especially in terms of its tablets.
NPD DisplaySearch also brings out this interesting point that Amazon’s Kindle Fire and BN’s Nook Tablet being only available in United States have earned third and fourth place, but that was just according to NPD’s rankings. Samsung and Asus also hit solid results but in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) markets. But, no matter what these search polls say, Apple has the number one spot in shipping the most number of tablets in the world. It seems now a long time since we will be able to see a sold competitor for Apple. The company is shipping, earning and generating huge revenues for its company. With the launch of Apple’s iPad 3 in March, it wouldn’t be able to see its successor any time sooner now. It’s definitely going to be one hell of a fight but the current winner is Apple. Let’s see if in future, the number one spot will be taken by any other company or not?

For after sales support, I agree. Apple is tops and this I know from exeeripnce. But for hardware that’s tough. The iPhone 4 is a magnificent piece of kit (as I believe you Brits say) and elegant all around, problems notwithstanding. But I’ve always been impressed with the quality of Nokia phones, even though I can’t stand the Symbian software. HTC seems to run the gamut from Mercedes to Yugo, but their Mercedes class stuff is 1st rate. The only Samsung phone I ever owned was the Focus I owned briefly, but other than the gorgeous screen, I wasn’t much impressed by its build quality. Sony also tends to make some stunning hardware look at how impressed you are with the from of the Arc and I find my Xperia X10 to be a quality piece of work. Actually, I am thinking that building quality hardware is relatively easy if a company wants to put the effort into it. But after-sales support is where most companies fall on their faces and I truly don’t recall having having seen any company get that as right as Apple does. Not that they don’t have their fails they sure do as any company that large will. But walk into an Apple store and go to the Genius Bar and there’s a far better chance you’ll walk away impressed than not. (I can’t speak to phone support as I’ve never used it).
